Hello sweet peas,
I thought I’d just share some happy thoughts with you all to brighten up your Sunday morning.
I know January is usually known as a dreary month as recent memories of Christmas vanish and snow just never seems to settle. However it is important to keep positive and look ahead at a brand new year, maybe 2015 is your year for success, to make mistakes, to fall in love or just to live life to the fullest. One thing that makes a massive change is simply: a smile. I cannot emphasise the brilliance of a smile because even in difficult times, a simple smile can change someone’s day. Maybe the young woman who served you coffee who was previously shouted at by her boss or the old man sat opposite to you on the train or even yourself, when you catch a glimpse of your reflection in a shop window. Not only does smiling burn more calories than frowning, it also makes brightens your aura.
Did you know otters have a pocket to carry their favourite rock in? How adorable is that. They also hold hands with another otter as they float down rivers. I think if I could come back as an animal after this life, I’d definitely consider becoming an otter because life seems very relaxed and simple plus having a lovely fur coat all year round would be smashing.
I wonder how many of you wake up every morning and think how blessed you are to live another day. I, nor most people, take the time nowadays to think about how lucky you are. Of course everyone goes through pain and struggle but you can mould hardship into something beautiful. If you cut a worm in half, it won’t die. It will regrow its end and continue to wriggle. Picture your troubles as the end of a worm, cut them off and grow them into something different.
A good test of yourself is to keep plants. If you remember to water them everyday and make sure they get enough sunlight, they will grow into something beautiful. Just like anything in life, consistency and patience can form all sorts of wonderful things. There is also something very satisfying I find, about watching something grow both physical and metaphorically because you have invested yourself into something which without you, would fail. Although I don’t think talking to them up close and personal to give them more carbon dioxide will benefit anything other than a plant, so please take this with a pinch of salt.
You know those laughs that leave your stomach aching and your face full of happy tears? Surround yourself with people who have that effect on you because a day without laughter is a day wasted. When you can’t breathe because you are laughing so hard that it becomes inaudible and you don’t want to leave that feeling. But please do breathe, that is very important otherwise you can’t experience that euphoria again.
When was the last time you took a holiday? It doesn’t have to be far, just a short getaway to relax the mind, body and soul can be tremendously beneficial. The definition of ‘fernweh’ is an ache for distant places; the craving to travel. You will never know anything new until you’ve explored and created unique memories. Throughout your life, aim to help others but also don’t forget about yourself. You are always your number one priority, always and forever.
Stars might not really twinkle but you can shine bright. I hope I have made a small difference to your Sunday, and if I haven’t then you need to make that change for yourself.
Love Poppy x
